At the end of last month, Jacksonville, Florida based-Beacon Fisheries and Sustainable Fisheries Partnership (SFP) began the challenging work of launching a fisheries improvement project (FIP) to improve snapper and grouper fisheries -- two resources that tend to be data-poor and insufficiently regulated.
"They are an importer and another example of a company in the middle of the supply chain," Bryan Szeliga, SFP buyer engagement program manager, told IntraFish.
Beacon is the second buyer in the state to launch a FIP, and part of a growing group of companies participating in the projects.
