In Greece’s jam-packed seabass and seabream sector, Andromeda Group is the one with its head sticking out of the crowd.

The company was a latecomer; other large players such as Nireus, Selonda, Dias, Galaxidi or Hellenic Fish Farming were nearly all founded in the 1980s, but Andromeda strolled into the scene in 1998.

Unlike its peers, Andromeda is not led or controlled by a founding family and never listed on the Athens stock exchange. Instead, it is majority owned by an Athens-based private equity, Global Finance, since 2006, and led by an industry outsider, Dimitry Valachis, since the same year.
