Grupo Balfego demands the EU takes urgent action against International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas (ICCAT) member countries making unilateral decisions on the distribution of bluefin tuna quotas, reports Europa Press.

The group had already asked member countries to boycott Turkish imports after Turkey assigned a different quota to their fisheries despite the ICCAT recommendations.

After the annual ICCAT meeting held in Malta Nov. 10, Balfego complained that the European Union is too relax when it comes to verify and monitor stock control systems and the way the different countries apply scientific recommendations.
