Faroese feed company Havsbrun says there is no Faroese mackerel or herring  used in its feed production.

According to the The Scotsman, Chairman of the Scottish Pelagic Processors Association (SPPA), Ian McFadden, claims Faroese mackerel and herring are ending up in the UK food chain through Faroese salmon.

“We can document these claims have no basis whatsoever,” said Odd Eliasen, director of the Faroese fishmeal and fish feed manufacturer Havsbrun.

“We have -- in cooperation with the Faroese salmon industry -- decided we will not use mackerel in our salmon feed.
