“There’s no overfishing going on in Peru, but instead a stringent management regime that prevents excessive catches of fish below minimum size,” Arne Mogster, CEO at Austevoll, told IntraFish.
This comes in reaction to Marine Harvest Chairman Ole-Eirik Leroy's statement last week, in which he said his company doesn't want to risk its reputation by venturing into the Peru.
Mogster has difficulty understanding this statement, saying Norway has much to learn from Peru and the way it manages its fisheries resources.
“We feel privileged that we are allowed to take part in other nations’ fisheries.
