The NGO’s latest stunt – wrapping its own “edition” of the news around copies of a real USA Today delivered to attendees of last week’s North Pacific Fishery Management Council meeting in Portland, Ore. – was funny and effective.
It garnered press headlines and brought attention the group’s contention that the valuable Bering Sea is being overfished to the detriment of the environment and some species.
The content of the paper stressed the council needs to consider an ecosystem-based approach to fishery management, adding fur seals and stellar sea lions are currently at risk.
