Attempts to reach a mediated settlement to the ongoing dispute surrounding the use of the Marine Stewardship Council eco-label for Alaska salmon might not be over after all.

“We’d like to see the mediation continue and believe the MSC feels the same way,” Rob Zuanich, president of the Alaska Salmon Processors Association (ASPA), holder of the MSC Alaska salmon certificate, told IntraFish Monday.

An attempt to reach a negotiated settlement to the dispute June 8 ended without an agreement, with Stefanie Moreland of Trident Seafoods saying, “the parties were unable to reach a certificate sharing agreement through mediation.”
