ASMI Executive Director Ray Riutta sent a letter Oct. 13 to Chris Ninnes, MSC operations director, seeking clarification about how certain aspects of the sponsorship will be handled, and about potential financial impacts on ASMI.
No response had been received as of Thursday, Riutta told IntraFish.
In the letter, ASMI says the client sponsorship should be cost-neutral to the organization, and those companies that will benefit from the use of the MSC eco-label should have to pay for ASMI to be the sponsor.
