The survey, being conducted this fall, is in response to the growth in the organic foods sector, said Laura Fleming, ASMI communications director.

“It’s important to determine what that means to consumers,” Fleming told IntraFish. “We want to drill a little deeper with what attributes consumers associate with organic and natural.”

The ASMI board of directors approved the consumer study last week during a meeting in Seattle.

ASMI wants to know how much value consumers place on terms such as “organic” and “sustainability” when purchasing seafood.
