Thailand’s shrimp industry is still very much on a “slow, long road” of recovery in terms of its production volume, but in response to the new market dynamics, the country's producers are looking to develop new niche markets.
Due to the ongoing problems hitting the country's shrimp industry -- most notably the devastating effects of Early Mortality Syndrome (EMS) crisis over the past couple of years -- buyers started to source products from neighboring countries such as Vietnam, Indonesia and India.
