With the help of CleanFish, a company that works to bring producers and distributors of sustainable seafood together, Artisanfish brought the large South American fish to well-known restaurants in New York City, Miami and San Francisco.
Recently, however, CleanFish and Artisanfish and the Peruvian paiche farmer, Amazone, decided "to part ways," CleanFish Spokeswoman Alisha Lumea told IntraFish.
"It's still a great fish," Lumea said. "We had some success with it, it's a big project and takes a lot of planning."
Artisanfish, which specializes in sustinable and all-natural seafood, no longer works with brokers like CleanFish and has now taken "on the challenge of doing the leg work directly," to bring paiche, also known as arapaima, to U.S.
