The Falklands delegation, consisting of legislative assembly member Richard Cockwell and scientist Sasha Arkhipkin, was invited by Spain to attend the first World Summit on Fisheries Sustainability -- only to find their nameplate and flag removed following an official complaint from Argentina, sources told IntraFish.
The Spanish government subsequently apologized to Argentina for its "protocol error" in allowing the presence of the Falklands at the summit, according to EFE, the Spanish government news agency.
"It is incredibly rude and insulting. This was a conference dealing the management of world fisheries and how to ensure they are sustainable.
