It takes 20 minutes by plane or four hours by boat to reach Comau in the south of Chile, where the first ova CRG of Aquagen Chile S.A. is located. The facilities were inaugurated last week.
The hatchery can produce between 50 million and 60 million Atlantic salmon ova a year in a closed cycle, the company said.
