After a rocky year that ended with a “positive balance” for Chilean salmon companies, Victor Hugo Puchi, president of AquaChile, said the country's industry will increasingly rely on aquaculture, reports La Tercera.
“Wild catch is exhausted, consequently, the supply of seafood will come from aquaculture," he said. "This is a permanent challenge in Chile."
Following the high prices of Chilean salmon in key markets, marked by the supply shortage that the algal bloom caused, Puchi foresees the industry will continue to recover throughout 2017.
