Thousands of worker have already lost their jobs at other companies in Chile's salmon farming sector, which is suffering from the effects of a virus that has spread through the region's farms causing massive fish losses.
The effects of the infectious salmon anemia (ISA) virus and the recent algal blooms in Region 11 led to the 450 layoffs, said AquaChile.
There have been rumors for weeks that AquaChile, which already let go various executives a few weeks ago, would start to lay off workers.
