Alfonso Márquez de la Plata Cortes will step down from his role as CEO of Aquachile as of Mar. 31, the company said in a statement Wednesday.
The company cited "personal reasons" for the move. Former Manager of Pesquera Iquique and Camanchaca Torben Petersen is set to replace Marquez de la Plata Cortes.
Marquez de la Plata has held the position of CEO since 2005, and has made a significant contribution to AquaChile’s strategic development, its expansion and growth, the company said.
During the 10 years he has been in the company, Márquez de la Plata has led processes of mergers and acquisition and the participation of the company in the Chilean stock exchange.
He has also contributed towards positioning AquaChile as one of the leading companies in the country, with sales exceeding $730 million, and as one of the main companies worldwide in the production of farmed foods based on aquaculture species such as Atlantic salmon, Pacific salmon, sea trout and tilapia.
