Efforts to bridge the gap between opponents and proponents of the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) certification of the Russian Sea of Okhotsk pollock fishery have thrown the certification into more uncertainty.

In Late March, an MSC appointed independent adjudicator invited representatives from the fishery and those objecting to its certification to consider settling their differences in lieu of adjudication.

Earlier this year, the At-sea Processors Association (APA) and the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) filed objections to the certification, arguing the fishery lacks proper observer coverage and other conservation measures.
