Another company has left the group of firms supporting Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) recertification of Alaska salmon.
An executive at Seanna Seafoods based in Sitka Alaska told IntraFish the company is no longer interested in carrying the MSC label on its products.
“I changed my mind,” said the executive, who asked not to be identified. “I changed my mind after the Brussels show.”
The executive said Seanna will use the Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute’s (ASMI) Responsible Fisheries Management (RFM) eco-certification program. However, the company’s website still asserts its salmon products are certified by the MSC.
