Analyst: China on route to become major global salmon producer

Georg Liasjo, analyst at ABG Sundal Collier, is convinced China will be be one of the world's major salmon producers in the near future.

"I'm certain China will be producing 100,000 metric tons of salmon in land-based aquaculture within the next 20 years," he said at the Youngfish conference in Bergen, Norway, on Wednesday.

"Think of the costs involved in transporting the salmon out to the markets. You have quite a margin to work on in increased production costs. I’d be willing to bet on that,he said.
