After all the debate, argument and counter-argument over the Scottish independence referendum, the people have spoken and voted to stay part of the United Kingdom by a significant margin.

There have been strong passions on both sides in the campaigning in the last few months and there is obviously deep disappointment on part of those who wanted a "Yes" vote. There will equally be sighs of relief from the "No" camp.

The big debate now will switch to what will happen in the future, particularly given the promises of much greater powers to be given to the Scottish parliament.
