Amid the panic among exporters caused by Japan's new ethoxyquin standards in shrimp imports, one Vietnamese shrimp exporter, which sends 65 to 70 percent of its shrimp to Japan, is still continuing its sales to its largest market.

While Cafatex has temporarily stopped exporting industrial meal-fed shrimp because of the anti-oxidant levels found in the consignments, it continues to export to Japan natural meal-fed shrimp for both black tiger and vannamei species.

With this kind of shrimp, the farmers don't use industrial meal, so the shrimp raw material does not retain the residue of anti-oxidants or any prohibited chemicals, Cafatex chairman Nguyen Van Kich told IntraFish.
