For more than 2 decades the search has been on to find a replacement for Malachite Green and other anti-fungal compounds used in Aquaculture. Until now nothing has been found to provide a satisfactory efficacy and safety profile.
Fungal infection of eggs occurs in all cultured species, and fungus spores are part of the natural flora of all water. During the salmonid hatching process, a number of eggs will die, and unless these are picked out quickly, fungus will grow on them and rapidly infect healthy eggs and kill them.
