The acquisition is being reviewed by the competition authorities in France, and is documented online.

The deal would be significant for Alfesca, parent company of Lyons Seafoods, marking its first acquisition since its 2004 takeover of Labeyrie, and its first move into shellfish on the European continent.

The deal is not yet finalized, but fits in with Alfesca’s overall growth and development strategy, the company said.

Wiltshire-based Lyons Seafoods is the United Kingdom's largest shellfish supplier.

France’s directorate-general of Competition, Consumption and the Repression of Frauds is accepting third-party comments on the deal until Jan.
