Western Canada's largest seafood distributor is expanding its sustainably raised product line after securing a deal with a US-based shrimp farming company that's gaining serious market momentum.
In an effort to supplement its fresh shrimp offerings, Albion Fisheries is now the exclusive supplier of Sun Shrimp, a land-based farmed shrimp operation run by American Mariculture Inc., in St. James City, Florida.
Raised in a solar greenhouse, the shrimp recently earned certification from environmental nonprofit OceanWise as a top choice product.
Guy Dean, Albion Fisheries' vice president, told IntraFish people love the shrimp not just because of how it's raised, but because of its flavor.
