As you probably know -- or can guess -- Alaska opposes the measure for a myriad of reasons.

I couldn’t help but chuckle as I read the analysis because you could make the case Alaska already is the world’s largest offshore aquaculture program.

Alaska is staunchly proud of its wild salmon resource, as well it should be. But the “wild” aspect of the fishery is not as cut and dry as all of the state’s marketing blather would have you believe.

Alaska operates a world-class salmon hatchery program to “enhance” its wild salmon stocks and provide fishing opportunities for its residents -- and out-of-state fishermen, too.
