The Alaska pollock B season has been solid since it opened in mid-June, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Resource Management Specialist Krista Milani.

The B season total allowable catch (TAC) is 782,549 metric tons this year, for B season plus any rollover from A season, and Milani told IntraFish that 27 percent -- 212,000 metric tons -- has been harvested so far.

Last year at this time, about 31 percent of the 773,820 metric ton TAC had been caught, she explained.
