“The season is progressing a bit slower than last year. Last year there was a large initial catch and then it slowed down to a grind,” Jake Jacobsen, executive director of the Intercooperative Exchange (ICE), told IntraFish.
On the plus size, prices are up significantly over last year, he said. While last year’s average price was $4.67 (€3.37), Jacobsen says this year’s average price will be north of $7.50 (€5.41).
“The supply is inadequate for the demand, even at these record high prices,” he said.
