Due to European consumers constantly asking for more fresh fish, margins are good for Aker Seafoods’ fresh fish products.
Myhre is well under way with the restructuring of Aker Seafoods. Among other changes, he is raising the level of efficiency in the harvesting sector by reducing the number of trawlers that fish the company’s quota.
“We are cutting back from 16 to 14 trawlers next year,” he said, stressing the importance of consolidation at the production level.
In order to be able to deliver fish to the market 364 days of the year, it is important to be able to fish at a steady rate throughout the year, Myhre said.
