The deal will facilitate the sale of Aker's saltfish in northern Norway to Brodrene Sperre, and Brodrene Sperre's fresh fish to Aker.

"This deal exploits both companies strengths and advantages to one another's main areas," Aker Seafoods CEO Ynge Myhre told IntraFish. "This is an exciting alliance between the fresh and saltfish industry."

The addition of more saltfish into Aker's portfolio will help the firm offer a broader range to its buyers, Myhre said.

Aker reached a deal to sell its plant in Aalesund, Norway to Brodrene Sperre Nov. 7.
