The firm was notified by the Finnish Food Safety Authority that its Superba krill oil is now approved as Novel Food in the European Union.
Novel food is defined as a type of food that does not have a significant history of consumption or is produced by a method that has not previously been used for food.
“We are experiencing strong and growing interest for Superba krill oil in Europe,” said Matts Johansen, Aker BioMarine's EVP of Sales and Marketing. "With the approval in place, we are prepared to immediately supply Superba krill oil to the European market, and pleased that our customers are able to sell our product to European consumers.”
