“The potential to sell massive volumes is there, in things such as pet food and aquaculture,” said Maja Baevre-Jensen, Aker BioMarine Production Manager.
“There’s so much potential for products like start feed and medicinal feed in fish farming – areas where the aquaculture industry faces its biggest challenges,” said Baevre-Jensen.
In 2009, Norway-based Aker BioMarine will begin using krill as the basis for fish oil. The company intends to promote the idea the oil can be used as a supplement in milk, juice, yogurt, butter and other food products.
