A Canadian Atlantic salmon farming company is in the process of building at least two land-based facility after years of growing fish in "semi-open" cages.
Sean Wilton, CEO of AgriMarine, told IntraFish technological advances and market demands have made it financially viable for the company to grow and sell salmon using RAS systems on land to farm fish.
"We think the market demand pressures are merging with the technology to create select opportunities," Wilton said. "Local sourcing equals viability for land-based projects."
