Aquaculture in Africa is expected to continue its upward growth curve in the next decade and is predicted to reach production volumes of 1.7 million metric tons by 2020, according to experts spoken to for IntraFish's latest industry report, African Aquaculture: Breaking Through the Ceiling.

Egypt is the largest aquaculture producer accounting for around 70 percent of production, followed by Nigeria at 15 percent and Uganda at around 7 percent.

These and other African nations will be developed further by creating the incentives and providing the infrastructure for small and medium-sized investors to become productive aquaculture entrepreneurs, say insiders.
