Television and movie star Jeremy Piven was ordered to take a break from his work in the Broadway show Speed the Plow, after his doctor diagnosed him with a "profound elevated mercury level ... almost six times the upper limit of the reference range," according to published reports.
The actor was hospitalized earlier this week for three days due to symptoms from the condition, including muscle weakness and dizziness.
Dr. Carlon Colker, Piven's physician, said treatment will include abstaining from all types of seafood and Chinese herbs, of which Piven is fond of taking.
