Tucked away in the river Severn, Europe’s largest glass eel ground, a fish smoker is recruiting school children and teachers to help restock the eels.

The aim of the 'Eels in Schools' project is to help restock eels back into British waters while educating children, Richard Cook, who runs the smokehouse Severn & Wye near Gloucester on the border of England and Wales, told IntraFish.

“Even though I grew up on the river Severn amongst a highly valuable fishery worth millions to the local economy over the years, we were never taught about the river in school,”  Cook said.
