During the World Economic Forum conference recently in Davos, Switzerland, researchers presented a list showing Norway plummeted in a ranking of countries that practice a good environmental policy.

Evaluation for the environmental status was based on 16 factors. Where overfishing was concerned, evaluation was based on the relationship between fishing quotas and reported catches. Norway, regarded as being astute at managing its resources, has always scored very well. There are, for instance, plentiful stocks of cod in the Barents Sea, while cod stocks have disappeared from around Newfoundland.
