The lot, planned for the town of Hilo on the island of Hawaii, also known as the Big Island, will showcase U.S. equipment, and be a place to conduct feed and feed processing research, demonstrate batch mixing in subtropical environments and using subtropical ingredients, and to do some pharmaceutical research, Anthony Ostrowski, president of Oceanic Institute, told IntraFish.
"The mill will be the only one in the country focused on aquaculture research, and the only one in the U.S. designed to do that," Ostrowski said, adding it will have capacity to mill up to about 4,000 kilograms an hour, and a dry extruder of up to 2,500 kilograms an hour.
