Since the time the spill from the Deepwater Horizon well operated by BP was announced, seafood marketing boards and state and federal officials have stressed the safety of Gulf seafoods already in the marketplace -- and of those being caught and harvested from areas so far unaffected by the April 20 spill.
While these reassuring messages may help alleviate some of the immediate worry and panic that may be spreading among the public, it's going to take lots of marketing and more concerte actions showing whatever seafood comes from the Gulf in the future is being checked and double-checked to make sure it is safe to sell and eat.
