Fly farmer and insect technology pioneer AgriProtein says its planned industrial-scale maggot farms based on organic waste are on track to open in the Netherlands and California over the next two years.

The first "G-Series Bioko" 180,000 square foot facility is built and due to be commissioned once permitting is completed, with operations set to begin in 2022.

The California site, with the capacity to upcycle 180,000 metric tons of food waste per year, will produce around 4,000 metric tons of insect meal.
