With the downturn in the foodservice sector across Europe from the coronavirus lockdowns, European frozen fish processors are facing booming retail demand for their products, and are quickly drawing down inventories of species such as Alaska pollock to keep production rolling.

Retail sales of frozen fish in the German market in week 14 (March 30 - April 5) alone were up 41.7 percent year on year, according to IRI data, a snapshot of the huge shift among consumers towards in-home eating.
