Norwegian harvesting giant Nergård is investing in two whitefish companies in the north of the country.

Nergard said it is buying the processing operations of Aksel Hansen in Senja and will combine this with its own existing operations in Senja and Sørøya.

The brothers Johan-Arild Hansen and Frank Magne Hansen have run the family business Aksel Hansen since the 1990s.

“The Hansen brothers will continue as minority shareholders and Frank Magne Hansen will become a key player in operations,” said Tommy Torvanger, chairman of Nergard, in a statement.
