Thailand's importance as a tilapia producer is growing -- but its far off from becoming a global powerhouse and out-competing countries such as China. And while challenges are vast, it is making strides toward becoming a more professionalized sector.
Benchmark-owned Inve Aquaculture, which has its Asian headquarters in Thailand, recently entered a partnership with Manit Farms, the country's largest tilapia feed and fry supplier with about 150 million fries per year.
The deal is testimony to the company's belief in the future growth of the sector, Olivier Decamp, farm and feedmill product manager at Inve, told IntraFish.
