Even with economists predicting a US recession for early next year, the Alaska pollock industry remains confident its product can weather the turbulence and even grow sales in the retail and foodservice sectors.

While shipping and storage costs and capacity have remained challenging for the industry, one executive with inshore vessels in the Bering Sea confirmed with IntraFish pollock prices should remain at $5,000 (€5,055) per metric ton in the early part of 2023.

"I see prices staying similar to 2022 for at least the first half of the year," he said.
