Loch Long Salmon's plans for a semi-closed farm have been rejected by the Board of the Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park.

Loch Long Salmon, a joint venture between aquaculture services company Trimara Services and blue economy developer Simply Blue Aquaculture, submitted a planning application for the project last October.

The rejection comes after two years of surveys and modeling to demonstrate that the farm will not compromise the environmental quality of the Loch.

The group had been hoping to farm up to 20,000 metric tons of salmon per year in what would have been Scotland's first semi-closed salmon farm.
