Certain alternative feed ingredients have become significantly more advanced in recent years and should no longer be thought of as “novel” or “emerging” but rather as “real alternatives,” according to Ian Carr, global business development manager, at algae oil producer Veramaris.
Speaking during the inaugural IntraFish Aquaculture Innovation Summit 2021, Carr argued that some feed alternative ingredients such as algae oil or insect meal, are an increasingly important part of the solution to finding sustainable sources of the critical nutrients EPA and DHA for aquafeed.
