A GIANT lobster caught this week off south Devon is soon to be a star attraction at the National Marine Aquarium in Plymouth, reports
Phil Lockley.
Weighing in at just under 13lb, the animal – already named ‘Mad Jack’ – is judged to be at least 50 and probably 100 years old.
Skipper Jack Baker and his crewmen, Mark Tennyson and “Chopper”, working aboard Arandora Star caught it in a tangle net.
Skipper Baker told FN: “In over 30 years of fishing I have never seen anything like this and have never known or heard of a lobster anywhere near that weight; perhaps the fishermen in other areas do, and I would love to hear from them.
