Illinois-based seafood distributor Fortune Fish & Gourmet hopes to get its product line into new markets with the recent acquisition of Coastal Seafoods, a Minnesota-based seafood purveyor and retailer.
"We started talking with them late last year to see if it was a fit," said Fortune Fish President and CEO Sean O'Scannlain.
The move wasn't rushed and he told IntraFish they were "patient in getting to know each other and finding out if this is the right move."
Coastal Seafoods owner and founder Suzanne Weinstein has been "building up a great company for the last 35 years.
