The Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) recently appointed Brian Perkins, a former commercial fisherman and international seafood trade show executive, as its new regional director of the Americas. The appointment is part of a new strategy to continue to expand the MSC’s presence in the Americas and increase availability of MSC-certified sustainable seafood across the region.

In his first interview since getting the job, Perkins tells Seafood International about his immediate priorities for the MSC’s Americas operations, why he made his son, Benjamin, “eat the fish,” how he expects to deal with the Alaska processors who abandoned the Alaska salmon certification and how the MSC helped change the world.
