On Friday, California federal judge Haywood Gilliam, Jr. denied the final approval of a $12 million (€10.9 million) lawsuit that plaintiff Patrick Hendrick filed against tuna giant Starkist for allegedly underfilling its cans.

Previously, the parties reached a settlement and sought preliminary approval of the agreement on May 14 last year. The court granted preliminary approval of the settlement on July 23 and the Hendrick filed the motion for final settlement approval on December 11.
