Japan’s trading conglomerate Marubeni  is showing interest in joint ventures and investments in the wild salmon processing sector in Kamchatka, Russia, according to news agency Sputnik.

At the Eastern Economic Forum held in Vladivostok, Tom Miki, head of Marubeni's seafood unit, said the resources are highly attractive to the company.

“We want to have a fruitful collaboration with Russian parties in salmon processing," Miki said.

Amid sluggish fish consumption at home, the conglomerate has been acquisitive in the seafood sector to take advantage of an increasing demand in the world in the last five years.
